Midwinter Feast 2027

In Finnish

In the time of winter cold
the finest feast is starting.
Beneath the grip of icy-hold
friends all around are meeting.

Lanterns, tapestries, tablecloths and ideas,
menus shining new, great plans coming through,
wagons full again. Friends are here!
Comes Midwinter Feast!

Dancing, songs resound, food is all around,
sauna, royals here, icy paths to fear,
Feast with tables loaded. Dream is here!
Comes Midwinter Feast!
[Sing / dance! Ding dong merrily on high / Branle de l’official]

Once upon a time there was —and still today there is— the Tippsund camp center in Taivassalo, where Midwinter Feast is held.
We will be celebrating there again from February 12–14, 2027.
Registration opens on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at 18:00 (UTC+3) =>.
Welcome to join!

Site
Tippsund Camp Center in Taivassalo
Address: Kahiluodontie 386, 23310 Taivassalo.
The site is not accessible by public transport; a car or a ride is required.

The event is centered around a mainhall; the same building houses restrooms and showers. A sauna—also equipped with a restroom and showers—is located nearby by the shore. For this event, the fictional nobles are constructing an old castle and its small garden inside the hall. It is said that a scholar once lived in the castle’s corner tower…

Accommodation is provided in cabins for 6–7 people; five are located near the main building, while three are abit further away. The cabins contain bunk beds (equipped with mattresses, duvets, and pillows—you must bring your own bed linens). There is no running water or toilets in the cabins.

Prices
The event has a capacity of approximately 50 participants.
You may attend for the entire weekend, or visit for the day on Saturday—either with or without the feast. Both day-visit options include lunch.

– Full weekend: SCA members €58 / non-members €64
– Full weekend: children under 12 years old €42

– Day visit + feast: SCA members €36 / non-members €40

The last day for cancellations and payments is January 10, 2027; payments cannot be refunded after this date.
If you would like to arrange a later payment date or pay upon arrival at the event, please contact us in advance.

Registration
Registration opens via the form on the website on November 4, 2026, at 18:00.
Sometimes events fill up within a minute, while at other times there may still be plenty of space even a week later; however, if securing a spot is important to you, it is best to be ready and present right when registration opens. You may provide additional information via email later if necessary.
The form asks for the following:
1. Legal name [required by the organizers for safety reasons].
2. Event name [i.e., a medieval name, nickname, first name, or similar that you would like to appear on the event lists].
3. May your event name be published on the website? [Names on the online list will be displayed in bold once payment has been received or other payment arrangements have been made.]
4. Will you be attending for the entire weekend, visiting for the day (including the feast), or visiting for the day (without the feast)?
5. Allergies and dietary restrictions; you may also include preferences or foods you dislike. It is helpful for the kitchen staff to know, for example, whether you can consume items labeled “may contain [allergen]” or if you have a reaction simply by being in the same room as the allergen.
6. Any minors under your care [name and age], or, if you are a minor, the name of your guardian.
7. Accommodation preferences and needs [e.g., a lower bunk, or the names of people you would like to share accommodation with—we will do our best to accommodate these requests].
8. Program suggestions and offers to contribute to the program. We will also ask separately whether you would like to give an inspirational talk or if you have items to sell at the market, so that we can set aside the necessary time and space.
8a. Inspirational talks are short—approximately 20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for discussion—and focus on a topic close to your heart; something you are passionate or curious about, and which you would like to share information on or explore together with others. The topics can be incredibly varied—for example: were carrots always orange? curious helmet decorations, the tails of sea monsters, the color pink as a choice for real men… or simply anything that interests you. You don’t need to be an expert (though you certainly can be!), and the topic can be broad or very specific. The most important thing is the opportunity to share and hear about things that truly matter to you.
8b. A market will be set up in the hall around lunchtime. You can sell items you have made yourself or medieval-related gear you no longer need—or simply come along to hunt for bargains and useful finds. Many sellers accept modern payment methods like MobilePay, though having some cash on hand certainly won’t hurt. We will allocate table space based on demand.
9. Any other wishes, needs, questions, or anything else you’d like to share?

Program, Menu, Participants and Useful Information
Details that are subject to change—and which will be clarified and confirmed as the event approaches—are updated on this dedicated page.
Program. The event features a diverse program, allowing you to choose which activities to join. Most of the program takes place in the main hall; combat and archery are held outdoors, and the saunas are… at the sauna. The main hall is a single large space: presentations are held in one corner, dancing takes place in the center, and along the sides, you will find tables for crafts and games, stocked with tools and materials for independent activities. In one corner of the hall, there is also a “researcher’s tower room” featuring information on various scientific topics, along with small puzzles for those interested.
Menu. Plenty of food will be provided: a late-evening snack on Friday; breakfast, lunch, and a feast on Saturday; and breakfast on Sunday. Allergies and dietary requirements—provided in advance—will be accommodated in all meals. You are also welcome to share preferences or dislikes; however, please clearly distinguish between a preference and an allergy. For example, please specify whether products labeled “may contain [allergen]” are acceptable, or if the mere presence of an allergen in the same room poses a risk.
Useful Information. There are many things to keep in mind when attending—some of which might come as a surprise, especially to newcomers. We aim to compile checklists for these, and we encourage you to ask questions whenever something comes to mind.
List of Participants. The names of everyone who grants permission to publish their event name (medieval name, nickname, first name, etc.) will be added to a list. Names on the list will be displayed in bold once payment has been made or payment arrangements have been agreed upon.
